How to Add Your Business to Google Maps (Step by Step)

Showing up on Google Maps is free, takes an afternoon, and is one of the highest-return things a local business can do. It is how people find you, get directions, see your hours, and tap to call. Here is how to do it.
Step 1: Create or claim your Google Business Profile
Your spot on Google Maps comes from a Google Business Profile. Go to the Google Business Profile site, search for your business, and either claim it (Google sometimes creates them automatically) or create it. You will verify ownership by phone, text, or postcard. Google walks through it in its help docs.
Step 2: Fill it out completely
Add your exact business name, phone, and either an address or a service area if you travel to customers. Pick the right category, add your services, and write a real description. We cover the full setup in our Google Business Profile guide.
Step 3: Add photos and keep it active
Profiles with photos get more clicks and calls. Add your logo, finished work, and your team, then keep adding fresh ones. An active profile out-ranks a stale one.
Step 4: Match it to your website
Use the exact same name, address, and phone on your website and profile. That consistency builds trust with Google and feeds your local SEO.
