Euchre Score Sheet

Euchre players traditionally keep score with a pair of spare fives, flipping cards to show the count. Lost the fives? Name the two teams, tap the points each hand, and the sheet runs to 10 and calls the winner.

Euchre scoring

Only one side scores in each hand: the makers if they took at least three tricks, otherwise the defenders.

Result of the handPoints
Makers take 3 or 4 tricks1 to the makers
Makers take all 5 tricks (march)2 to the makers
Lone hand takes 3 or 4 tricks1 to the makers
Lone hand takes all 5 tricks4 to the makers
Makers take fewer than 3 (euchred)2 to the defenders

Some tables also award 4 to defenders who euchre a lone hand. If yours does, enter 4.

How Euchre scoring works

Euchre is played by two partnerships with a 24-card deck. Each hand, one side calls trump and becomes the makers, and they need to win at least three of the five tricks. Take three or four and they score a point. Take all five, a march, and they score two. A player confident enough can go alone, without their partner, and a loner that sweeps all five tricks is worth four. If the makers fall short, they have been euchred, and the defenders score two instead. The first partnership to 10 points wins, which usually takes somewhere between eight and fifteen hands.
